AUS vs SA: Shane Warne to be honoured during the Boxing Day Test

The action moves from the Gabba to the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground for the second Test of the ongoing three-match series between Australia and South Africa

This will be the first Test in Melbourne after the local hero Shane Warne's sad demise, which shook the cricket world. 

Ahead of the Boxing Day Test, Cricket Australia has revealed that the players from both sides will don white floppy hats during the national anthem to honour the legendary spinner. 

Additionally, Warne's baggy green number 350 will be painted square off the wicket for the duration of the Test. 

CA Chief Nick Hockley, in his statement, called Warner a legend in Australian and world sports. 


Here's what he said

"Shane is an icon to cricket fans globally for the greatness of his cricketing achievements, his charisma and his infectious enthusiasm for the game. His place as a legend of Australian and world sport is assured,

"Whilst we continue to mourn his passing, it is fitting that we honour Shane at his beloved Boxing Day Test at the MCG."

Meanwhile, the first Test in Brisbane saw Australian bowlers wreak havoc over their opponents on a green grassy track and take a 1-0 lead.
