With England's recent success with multiple coaches, the idea of multi format coaches is gaining momentum. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) appointed Matthew Mott as a white-ball coach, while former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum took over as Test coach, with both bringing in laurels in their short stint.

Now, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) is mulling over the idea of bringing in multiple coaches in the future. New Zealand's current head coach Gary Stead's contract runs out until the ICC World Cup 2023 next year and has been at the helm of things since 2018.

According to Stuff.co.nz, NZC boss David White spoke about talks within the board about the possibility of different coaches moving ahead.

"We have had conversations. [General manager of high performance of New Zealand Cricket] Bryan Stronarch and myself and Gary about that possibility in the future. I think it's something that might happen in the future. But like all things we do, we kind of discuss it as a group, it's not one person making a unilateral decision,"

Earlier in the week, Kane Williamson stepped down from his role as the Kiwi's red-ball captain and only led them in limited overs.
