A video from the 2019 ODI World Cup has resurfaced, bringing back memories of India's heart-wrenching loss to New Zealand in the semi-final.

In the video, Rohit Sharma expresses his belief that MS Dhoni should have batted at No. 4, a strategic position he felt was crucial for India's success.

India, led by Virat Kohli, had been dominant throughout the tournament, topping the table with seven wins from nine matches. However, in the rain-affected semi-final against New Zealand, India’s top order collapsed, leaving the team struggling at 24/4.

Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni fought valiantly, but their efforts were in vain as India fell short by 18 runs.

MS Dhoni’s Last Dance

Dhoni, who batted at No. 7, scored a determined 50 off 72 balls before being run out by a direct hit from Martin Guptill. This match would be Dhoni’s last for India, as he announced his retirement on August 15, 2020.

“Thanks a lot for your support throughout. From 1929 hrs consider me as Retired", he had said in the Instagram post.

The old video of Rohit advocating for Dhoni at No. 4 has reignited discussions among fans, with many wondering if a different batting order could have altered the outcome of that fateful match.
