On Saturday, August 24, Shikhar Dhawan shocked the cricket world after he announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The former India opener took to social media platforms where he dropped a video announcing him stepping aside from the game.

Dhawan, who made his India debut in 2010, last featured for the Men in Blue in 2022. The southpaw enjoyed a peak phase in 2013 when he was instrumental in the 2013 Champions Trophy.

Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, most renowned cricketing figures congratulated the 38-year-old on an illustrious career. The latest to jump onto the bandwagon is Dhawan's best friend and current India skipper Rohit Sharma.

Rohit and Dhawan have known each other since under-19 days and share a great camaraderie. The two have opened the inning for India in 115 games and are the fourth most successful opening pair with 5148 runs.

Rohit took to Twitter and remarked Dhawan as the ultimate Jatt. He Tweeted:

"From sharing rooms to sharing lifetime memories on the field. You always made my job easier from the other end. THE ULTIMATE JATT. "

Dhawan To Play In IPL 2025?

During the video, Dhawan did not mention anything about his participation in the IPL. While he will no longer represent India and his state in domestic tournaments, more clarity on his IPL participation will be provided as the game comes closer.
