MS Dhoni's Patriotic Gesture For Indian National Flag Still Gives Fans Goosebumps

MS Dhoni is one of the icons of world cricket and has been a great servant for India. He has won India numerous matches, and under his leadership, the men in blue won the 2011 World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy.

Over the years, he has expressed his love for the country outside the cricket field too, and has a close association with the army. He is now a Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army for India and is an inspiration for many.

Now, on the 79th Independence Day, let's revisit MS Dhoni's act of respect for the National flag during his playing days. It was the 2019 tour of New Zealand for India, an ODI series in the year of the 50-over World Cup. Dhoni was on his last tour of New Zealand, and thus every fan wanted to catch a glimpse of him.

In that enthusiasm, one of the fans ran all the way towards MS Dhoni in the middle of New Zealand's innings. He had an Indian flag in his hand and went down to touch MS Dhoni's feet. As he bowed down, the flag in his hand was about to touch the ground, but MS Dhoni did not let it happen and took the flag immediately in his hand.

Dhoni's gesture was immediately noticed by an on-air commentator, Harbhajan Singh. The former Indian off-spinner praised MS Dhoni for his act, and as the fan ran back out of the ground, the Indian wicketkeeper gave the flag to the umpire.

Thus, MS Dhoni once again won the hearts of fans on and off the field, and it is an act which shows his love and respect for the country.
