The first-ever Women's Premier League (WPL) 2023 concluded successfully with the Mumbai Indians clinching their maiden title on Sunday against the Delhi Capitals. The Capitals, led by Australian skipper Meg Lanning, who has won five World Cup titles, believes that the WPL will end her nation's dominance in cricket.

Australia, under Lanning, have won four T20 World Cups, one 50-overs WC, three The Ashes series, and a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.

As per The Age, the 31-year-old said the WPL was 'on another level' and that she could play for more than four to five years, given the growth in Women's cricket.

Here's what Lanning said

"One of the things we talk about a lot in the Australian team is trying to have an impact on the global stage. Tournaments like this will speed that up a fair bit.

As an Australian team we think it is important the global game is growing. It is not just about us winning all the time. We want to win all the time. There’s no doubt about that, but there is more at play that just that.”

Lanning finished the WPL as the leading run-getter with 345 runs. The WPL has brought in money into the system, which provides more opportunity to domestic players to display their skills and talent.
