The final of the Women's Premier League 2023 between the Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians was a see-saw encounter, where the latter prevailed and won the coveted trophy.

Delhi, who were clinical in their batting throughout the tournament, suffered a horrible collapse and were reduced to 79 for 9. Shikha Pandey and Radha Yadav helped their side save face with a 52-run stand for the last wicket, taking their score to 131.

Skipper Meg Lanning, who top-scored for her side with 35, rued batting failure as one of the main reasons behind their loss. Delhi finished first in the group table to qualify directly for the WPL final.

Speaking to Jio Cinema, the five-time World Cup-winning Australian captain lauded her bowlers for making it tough for MI, taking the match into the final over.

Here's what Lanning said

"We didn't bat at our best but this competition has shown you can keep going till the end, and then you never know. Very good effort from the bowlers. We did well in the first 10 overs, got early wickets but Harmanpreet and Sciver-Brunt took the game away, they batted very well."

Lanning finished the competition as an orange cap holder with 345 runs at an average of 49.29.
