Nat Sciver-Brunt Reflects On Her Game-Changing Knock in WPL Final

Mumbai Indians achieved a historic feat by winning the inaugural Women's Premier League title, beating Delhi Capitals by seven wickets in the final. The team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, displayed exceptional performance, with Nat-Sciver Brunt's batting heroics leading the way to their victory.

In the 132-run chase, Sciver-Brunt played an exceptional innings of 60 runs off 55 balls, including seven boundaries. The all-rounder held the fort after her side lost the openers early in the innings. She partnered with Kaur, with a crucial 72-run partnership for the third wicket, eventually steering Mumbai towards the coveted title.

In the post-match presentation, the England star expressed her delight at delivering a special performance under pressure. She stated that she tried to stay focused throughout the innings, with Kaur and Kerr taking the pressure off her during the tricky chase.

"It was very special. Glad I was able to stick it out when the pressure was on. I was trying to get quite tough and Harman and Amelia took the pressure off me. I knew if I stayed till the end we’d get through," Sciver-Brunt said in the post-match presentation.

While admitting to Mumbai Indians Women conceding too many runs in the slog overs, the 30-year old acknowledged that it made the game even more thrilling. 

The seasoned all-rounder further emphasised the significance of winning the inaugural WPL trophy, describing it as a moment of great importance for her and her team. 

"We gave away too many in the final 3-4 overs, but it made the game interesting. (Winning the trophy) It means everything, coming together with a special group of girls with the Mumbai Indians, really special moment," she added.
