Playing their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) season last year, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) finished fourth in the 2022 edition after losing to Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator.

Much to everyone's surprise, LSG were placed third in the points table to qualify for the playoffs ahead of well-established teams. Interestingly, former Australian skipper,  Aaron Finch believes that in this IPL 2023, the KL Rahul-led franchise will find it difficult to reach the playoffs.

Finch, who retired from international cricket in February while speaking to Star Sports, explained that Lucknow's bowling is an issue that mainly surrounds their death overs.

Here's what Finch said

“I see a potential weakness in the Lucknow Super Giants, being their death bowling. I think they’ve got a lot of options throughout the middle, they’ve got some good all-rounders. But I think, when you look at the combinations, finding good quality four overs of death bowling will be a real challenge for them,”

Finch further added that West Indies' Nicholas Pooran could be a game-changer for LSG.

The 36-year-old urged management to back Marcus Stoinis, Quinton De Kock, Pooran, and Mark Wood as their four overseas players.

The Andy Flower-coached side have a plethora of all-rounders in Krunal Pandya, Deepak Hooda, Stoinis, and Kyle Mayers, to add to a decent bowling line-up consisting of Avesh Khan, Jaydev Unadkat, Wood, Maveen-ul-Haq and Ravi Bishnoi.

LSG will play their opening match against the Delhi Capitals on April 1.
