New Zealand captain Kane Williamson might be taking a brief break from the cricket field in the ongoing World Cup 2023 as he recovers from a thumb fracture.

However, he is still spreading cheer on the sidelines with his trademark humour and ensuring everyone stays entertained through his witty social media updates.

Williamson, who suffered a thumb injury when he was struck by a throw while running between the wickets during the game against Bangladesh, has been diagnosed with a fracture.

The star Kiwi batter is likely to sit out of New Zealand's next couple of matches at the very least. Adding a funny touch to his injury, Williamson shared a cheeky post with former Indian wrestler The Great Khali.

Williamson, along with fellow captains, had the opportunity to meet Khali on the captains' day before the tournament kicked off on October 4 in Ahmedabad. Williamson, just like other captains clicked a picture with the Indian wrestler.

Meanwhile, the New Zealand captain has shared this picture on his social media and jokingly held Khali responsible for his thumb injury. Sharing the picture on his instagram handle, Williamson wrote:

"When I really fractured my thumb. Na but seriously, that’s one strong handshake! Pleasure to meet @thegreatkhali!"

New Zealand remain unbeaten in the ICC World Cup 2023, securing victory in all four matches they have played in the tournament. They currently lead the points table.
