Unbeaten India will aim to sustain their 2023 World Cup winning streak when they take the field in Dharamsala against New Zealand. However, senior Indian members, including captain Rohit Sharma, are well aware of the challenge that awaits them, as evidenced by recent footage released by the official broadcasters of the World Cup 2023.

To hype up the blockbuster showdown, Star Sports released a rare footage where captain Sharma and senior batter Virat Kohli can be seen praising the New Zealand team for their resilience and ability to step up on grand stages like ICC events.

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma wary of NZ record

In a two-minute-long video shared by the official broadcasters of the 2023 World Cup, Indian captain Rohit Sharma can be seen describing the New Zealand team as one of the most tactically strong teams in international cricket. The legendary opener added that the ‘Black Caps’ execute their plans very well on the field, and in order to beat them, one has to take their game to the next level.

Virat Kohli also praised the New Zealand team for their “professionalism” and for following a certain structure while playing their cricket. The batting legend also acknowledged their performance in the past two World Cup editions, where they ended up reaching the finals.

It is worth noting that Team India has not defeated New Zealand at any ICC event since their 2003 World Cup faceoff at Centurion.

Since then, the ‘Men in Blue’ have sustained massive defeats against the ‘Black Caps’ across multiple T20 World Cups, the 2021 World Test Championship final, as well as a tournament-crashing loss at the 2019 World Cup semi-final.

Under Rohit Sharma, Team India will aim to rectify their horrid record when they face each other at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on October 22.
