Indian Women roared back to level the three-match ODI series 1-1 against Bangladesh Women, by securing a thumping 108-run victory at Shere Bangla Stadium in Dhaka. The comprehensive win served as an emphatic response to their 40-run defeat in the rain-marred first ODI.

India Women drew the series level 1-1 with a statement win

However, the joy of the victory was slightly tarnished when a faux pas by the presenter during the post-match ceremony sparked outrage among cricket fans. During the course of the interaction, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur was erroneously addressed as 'Jemimah' by the host, drawing widespread disapproval from fans who chastised him for his lack of awareness.

The incident happened as the presenter while wrapping up the interaction thanked and congratulated Harmanpreet saying, “Thank you very much, Jemimah and congratulations!”

Unperturbed by the blunder, the Indian skipper responded with grace and assertiveness, correcting him by stating her name, "Harmanpreet Kaur, thank you!" before exiting the stage, leaving behind a cold yet dignified smile. Upon realizing his blunder, the host hastily extended an awkward apology saying, “Harmanpreet, beg your pardon.”

Meanwhile, the Women in Blue put in a powerful performance, mounting a challenging score of 228 for 8 in their 50 overs, courtesy of excellent half-centuries from Jemimah Rodrigues (86) and Harmanpreet Kaur (52).

In response, Bangladesh Women saw their score reduce to 38/3 within 14 overs. However, a fighting partnership between Fargana Hoque and captain Nigar Sultana provided a glimmer of hope as the duo added 68 runs to stabilize the innings.

Unfortunately, the 29th over saw Hoque's departure, triggering a catastrophic collapse for Bangladesh. Their score plummeted from 106/3 to 120 all out, as their batting lineup crumbled like a house of cards.

After delivering with the bat, Rodrigues also stood out with the ball as she grabbed four wickets for just nine runs in just 3.1 overs. Her outstanding all-round display earned her the well-deserved ‘Player of the Match’ award.

The crucial third and decisive ODI of the series is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 22 in Dhaka.
