Ashes 2023 | Controversial No Ball Decision Frustrates England As Hazlewood Survives

Australia's number eleven Josh Hazlewood got an early reprieve on Day 2 of the ongoing fourth Ashes Test in Manchester as England seamer Chris Woakes got his wicket off a no-ball.

The incident occurred in the fourth delivery of the very second over of the day with Australia one wicket away from being bowled out. Woakes bowled a back off a length delivery and Hazlewood got a thick outside edge flying straight to the second slip.

The England fielders started celebrating only to find out that Woakes overstepped and the ball was declared a no-ball. Woakes, who could have claimed his fifth wicket in the innings, missed an early opportunity to wrap up Australia's first innings.

The no-ball wicket in the very next over didn’t cost Ben Stokes’ team much as Woakes went on to remove Hazlewood in the 91st over and completed his first five-wicket haul in Test against Australia.  Australia got bowled out  for 317 in the first innings.

The surface in Manchester is not as simple as it looks. It surely has some tricks and England coming to bat early on day 2 will be a treat to watch. The fourth Ashes encounter is well poised between the two teams with an exciting remainder of the day two ahead of us.
