Indian women's right-handed batter Jemimah Rodrigues recently opened up about the low moments of her life and her international career, revealing another side to her otherwise vibrant, bubbly character.

Rodrigues recently appeared on Gaurav Kapoor's chat show, "Breakfast with Champions", where she opened up about the death of her cousin, who died because of drowning in the pool during a family vacation in her childhood.

Jemimah was just six when she lost her cousin, Kazia, 4, and according to the 22-year-old, it took her a lot of time to overcome the incident.

Here's what Jemimah Rodrigues said:

"That changed me a lot. I got insecure after that, I was so fearful, and I remember I didn’t want to leave my mom. I couldn’t sit in school like a classroom of 30 people. I needed my mom like I used to make a big scene, like crying and started reacting. It was very embarrassing for me but I was going through something I didn’t know what it was. However much I tried, I could not get over it because it was someone very close to me."

During the chat, Jemimah also revealed how Indian men's captain Rohit Sharma motivated her after she was axed from the national squad for the 2022 50-over World Cup.

Rodrigues revealed that Sharma comforted her by revealing his own disappointments post his 2011 World Cup snub and how he motivated himself for the future.

Rodrigues made a return to the Indian team post the 2022 WC. She played stellar knocks in both the CWG 2022 gold medal clash and the 2023 T20 WC semi-final against the Australians, but couldn't take her team past the finishing line, something she'd hope to do in the future events.
