Indian cricket has seen its share of extraordinary talents, and Rohit Sharma stands tall among them. Unreal batting brilliance, courageous shots, and an explosive mindset have made Rohit Sharma, the ‘Hitman’ of Indian cricket.

Renowned for his white-ball heroics, Rohit Sharma has quietly turned heads in Test cricket too. In 2021, he silenced doubts once and for all, smashing his first overseas Test century against England with a towering six, leaving the cricketing world in awe once again.

Rohit Marks First Overseas Test Ton In Style

After making his debut for the Indian side, Rohit Sharma redefined the legacy of white ball cricket. But the Hitman in the longest format is a whole different gravy. Blending his explosive power with patience, Rohit brought a new flair to the longest format. Amidst several breathtaking knocks, his first away Test century against England in 2021 still stands as the classic one.

In 2021, Team India travelled to England for a five-match Test series and secured a thrilling series win. But in the fourth Test, Rohit Sharma dazzled with his first away Test ton. After being dismissed cheaply in the first innings, scoring only 11 runs, he bounced back in the second innings.

Opening alongside KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma looked in control from the very first delivery. Mixing power with poise, Rohit crossed the magical three figures with a stunning six and scripted his first-ever Test ton away from home.

Going berserk over the English bowlers, Rohit played an exceptional innings of 127 runs in 256 balls with 14 boundaries and 1 towering six, and batted with a strike rate of 49.61. Hitman needed just 47 innings to smash his first-ever away Test ton. With that classic innings, fans witnessed another classic by Rohit Sharma.

India’s Big Win Secures The Series

With the series tied at 1-1, the stakes were sky-high going into the Test. After ending their innings in 191 in the first innings, the cricket world witnessed a great comeback by the men in blue. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul’s 83-run opening partnership set the stage for a thrilling show.

After Rahul’s dismissal, Rohit stitched another crucial partnership with Pujara and gave a strong foundation to the team. Coming to bat at the number 7 and 8 positions, Rishabh Pant and Shardul Thakur’s 100-run partnership gave a huge boost to Team India’s total as the team put on 466 runs on the board.

While bowling in the second innings, the Indian bowlers have done the rest. In front of the Indian pace attack, England’s batting lineup faltered. The pacers secured 7 wickets, including Umesh Yadav’s thrilling 3-wicket haul. Team India restricted the opponent to just 210 runs, and pulled off a massive 157-run win and secured the series by a 2-1 margin.
