Ajinkya Rahane has reached a remarkable milestone in his IPL journey by completing 5000 runs on Wednesday. The dynamic right-hander achieved this feat during the IPL 2025 clash between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings at the Eden Gardens.
Rahane’s Silent IPL Domination
The seasoned Mumbai cricketer, who began his IPL career with Mumbai Indians back in 2008, has now become the ninth batter in the history of the league to surpass the 5000-run mark and in just 182 innings.
Rahane’s IPL story has been one of a kind, filled with versatility and adaptability for every team he played. He enjoyed the most during his time with Rajasthan Royals, where he spent several impactful seasons and even captained Royal blue.
Known for his classical technique and calm composure, Rahane’s contributions have often flown under the radar, yet his consistency has been unshakable. Over the years, he has represented six different franchises, showcasing his ability to adjust and deliver in different team environments and roles.
Rahane Eyes Second IPL Crown
While he achieved a lot as an individual batter in this league, he lifted his only IPL trophy with the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings in 2023. The 36-year-old is currently leading Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2025 and has led the side from the front as the team’s leading run-scorer so far this season.
Looking at the team, KKR find themselves in a crucial position as the playoff race is heating up with every game is a must win for the defending champions. With Rahane leading the charge, hopes remain high for the defending champions to make it to the playoffs.
