Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra believes that the Indian team has the upper hand in the highly anticipated 2023 ICC World Cup match against Pakistan, which is scheduled to be played on October 14 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

India and Pakistan have kicked off their World Cup campaign on a high note, winning both of their opening matches in the quadrennial tournament. While Pakistan beat Netherlands and Sri Lanka, India outclassed Australia and Afghanistan in their respective first two matches.

Aakash Chopra further showered accolades on Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain, who recently broke the legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar's record to become the leading century-maker in ICC World Cup history.

With his recent century against Afghanistan in Delhi, Rohit Sharma has now scored 7 centuries in the ICC World Cup, making him the all-time leader. Previously, he was tied with Sachin Tendulkar, who had 6 centuries.

In an exclusive conversation with One Cricket's LOC 3.0, Aakash Chopra had this to say:

“We all saw what Rohit did in Delhi. Seven hundreds in 19 innings - who does that? Man, no one has seven centuries in the World Cup. Even the legendary Sachin Tendulkar only got 6 tons. You need to acknowledge that.”

The cricketer-turned-commentator also made a point to acknowledge Virat Kohli's consistent excellence against Pakistan and suggested that Kohli thrives in such encounters.

The former India opener also pointed out Hardik Pandya, who serves as the captain of the Gujarat Titans in the IPL, with Ahmedabad as his home turf and how important he is going to be India for this game.

Given Rohit Sharma's current form and the middle order performing exceptionally well, with players like KL Rahul and Virat Kohli, Aakash Chopra straightforwardly asserts that India clearly holds the upper hand over Pakistan as they head into this game.

“After Rohit comes Virat, I am short of words for him. He just loves playing against Pakistan. Then Hardik brings his best to Ahmedabad. Comparing man to man, India is way ahead of Pakistan.”

Another issue on India's radar is the fitness of star opener Shubman Gill, who was sidelined for the first two matches due to dengue. The big question is whether he will be ready for the big match against Pakistan. It's worth noting that Shubman Gill has been India's top run-scorer in ODIs this year and has a remarkable track record in Ahmedabad.
