South Africa's premium all-rounder Wiaan Mulder has extended his Leicestershire deal for additional two years starting 2023.

The Grace Road county would have been really keen to continue with him considering he was awarded player of the tournament after a significant batting average in the County Championship and Royal London Cup.

On signing a new deal with his county, Mulder said,

"I loved my time at Leicestershire this year and I really enjoy county cricket, so I'm very excited to be coming back.

"My teammates and the coaching staff have been so good to me personally, making me feel at home, so that's a big reason why I'm back for more.

"We're building a nice squad, it's something I really want to be involved in. Hopefully I can contribute more in the coming seasons."

To the unversed, Mulder smacked 235 not out in a thrilling draw against Sussex this season, which incidentally was his highest Test score. Further, the 24-year-old has represented Proteas 11 times in Tests to go with 5 T20I matches and 12 ODI games.

On his joining, club's Director of Cricket Claude Henderson mentioned that his influence will make the side stronger.
