In a shocking incident, famous Portuguese and Liverpool Footballer, Diogo Jota died in a car crash in Spain on Thursday, July 3. The 28-year-old was on holiday when his Lamborghini veered off the road and burst into flames, authorities said. Life is short and not only in Football but such tragic accidents have also taken place in the Cricketing world as well.

Over the years, several cricketers have lost their lives in unfortunate car accidents. In this piece, we will talk about 5 such cricketers, who tragically passed away due to vehicle accidents.

1) Andrew Symonds

One of the greatest white-ball all-rounders in the history of the game, Andrew Symonds was a household name in Australia but on May 14, 2022, the former cricketer lost his life in a car accident. His car rolled over near Townsville, Queensland.

Symonds was the only one in the car and although police came for the rescue work, it was too late as he was unfortunately passed away.

2) Ben Hollioake

England cricketer, Ben Hollioake was only 24 years when the player died in a car accident. Hollioake died on March 23, 2002 in Perth, Australia when his car crashed on to the wall at Mill Point exit road exit at Kwinana Freeway. He was returning from a family function but the English player unfortunately passed away in a horrific accident.

3) Rudi Koertzen

Former South African umpire and cricketer, Rudi Koertzen died in a car accident near Riverdale, Western Cape. The unfortunate event occurred on August 9, 2022 when he was returning home from a golfing event and his car crashed, killing three other people.

4) Manjural Islam

Bangladesh cricketer, Manjural Islam died in an accident on March 16, 2007. The accident occurred when his motorcycle collided with a microbus and then struck an electrical pole at the side of the road.

5) Runako Morton

West Indies cricketer, Runako Morton died in a car crash on March 4, 2012. As per reports, he was driving his car along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway and crashed into a utility pole at Chase Village in Chaguanas.
