Yorkshire have just pulled off a massive coup by signing Aussie superstar Jess Jonassen. The veteran all-rounder is all set to don the white rose jersey as she signs a two-year deal with Yorkshire Women, beginning March 2026.

Australian All Rounder Jess Jonassen To Play For Yorkshire

With the county side stepping into Tier One cricket next season, this signing is a statement of serious intent. The 31-year-old, who hass been a force of nature in world cricket for over a decade, brings with her a truckload of trophies and a reputation that precedes her.

From Brisbane Heat to Delhi Capital Women and now to Yorkshire, Jonassen’s cricketing journey continues to hit all the right notes. With five T20 World Cup medals and an ODI World Cup under her belt, Jonassen isn’t just an international veteran, she is a certified game-changer.

Her left-arm spin can strangle oppositions in the powerplay or tie things up in the death. And with the bat, she is more than handy in the lower order. Her WBBL credentials speak for themselves.

Not only has she captained Brisbane Heat with pride but she also holds the record as the most successful bowler in BBL history, across both men’s and women’s editions. She was also the joint WBBL Player of the Year in 2024/25 alongside Ellyse Perry.

Yorkshire’s Rising Ambitions Just Got A Boost

Yorkshire’s head coach Rich Pyrah couldn’t hide his delight at roping in the Aussie ace.

“Signing a player of Jess’s quality is a real testament to the enduring appeal of Yorkshire CCC,” Pyrah said. “She is a cricketer with proven international pedigree who we know will bring experience and a lot of skill.”

With Yorkshire set to make their Tier One debut next season, the timing couldn’t be better. The squad is shaping up nicely and Jonassen’s arrival will not only boost the bowling attack but also mentor the next generation.

Jonassen Stoked After Joining Yorkshire

Jess Jonassen herself sounded pumped about her next chapter in England.

“I’m incredibly excited to be joining up with Yorkshire from next year,” she said.

Having shared dressing rooms in Queensland with England international Lauren Winfield-Hill, Jonassen added,

“She has always been so positive about the Club and the coaching staff. So when the opportunity came up, I just couldn’t turn it down.”

The camaraderie, the setup, and the timing all seem to have fallen into place. And come March 2026, the Yorkshire fans will get to watch one of the greats go about her business in their colours.
