England Women’s cricket team has been dealt a big blow as captain Nat Sciver-Brunt has been ruled out of the third T20I against India at the Kia Oval due to a left groin injury, the ECB confirmed on Thursday.
India Women are touring England for a 5-game T20I and 3-game ODI series. The visitors are leading the series by 2-0, and the third do-or-die game for England is scheduled on July 4, 2025, at the Oval Stadium.
Nat Sciver-Brunt To Miss 3rd T20I Vs India
In a major setback, England Women will play the 3rd T20I against India without their captain, Nat Sciver-Brunt. According to an official statement from the ECB, the skipper has been ruled out due to a groin injury.
The ECB has said that scan results will determine her availability for the remainder of the series. The fourth T20I is scheduled for Wednesday, July 9, at Emirates Old Trafford.
Sciver-Brunt’s absence is a major concern, especially with England trailing 0-2 in the five-match series. She had scored a fighting half-century in the first T20I, and her experience with both bat and ball has been vital for the team.
In her absence, Tammy Beaumont will step in as captain. The team will also see the addition of Maia Bouchier, the talented Hampshire batter, who has been called up as injury cover for the match at the Oval.
Sciver-Brunt was seen walking off during the second T20I while England was fielding. India went on to win that game by 24 runs, powered by half-centuries from Amanjot Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues, sealing their second straight win and taking a commanding series lead.
