England big hitter Dawid Malan went off-field midway through the match against Sri Lanka. The batter had pulled his groin muscle and has been under observation ever since, he has had light practice sessions but is doubtful to play in the semi-final against India.
Who will come in?
Reports suggest that England has already made a decision regarding Malan's inclusion in the squad and Phil Salt is the likely replacement. Salt will come in at number 3 if he features in the squad.
England management is out of options when it comes to batters, Salt being the only batter in the reserve aside from pacers Tymal Mills, Chris Jordan and David Willey.
The Lancashire star has been unable to feature in the squad so far in the T20 World Cup 2022. But will likely slot in if Malan does not prove his fitness before the semi-final against India.
Malan also has been unable to fire in the tournament, and only has a high score of 35. England need to be on their toes against of the best performing teams in the tournament, India. Salt is predicted to feature as the number three batter but could also bat at the middle-order if Jos Buttler decides to alter the batting lineup.
