Bangladesh batter Mushfiqur Rahim suffered a knee injury when he underwent a gym session on Saturday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur.

Hurting his left knee, Mushfiqur, had to take four stitches around the cut near the shin bone. The injury puts him out of action for almost two weeks.

Mushfiqur's condition will be closely monitored by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) medical team.

"The 35-year-old got four stitches below his left knee around the shin bone. A member of the Bangladesh Cricket Board medical team also confirmed The Daily Star that the experienced cricketer will be under observation for minimum two weeks," The Daily Star reported.

Despite the setback, the wicket-keeper will most probably feature in Bangladesh's National Cricket League (NCL) that starts on October 10.

Mushfiqur recently announced his T20I retirement

In other news, the cricketer hung his boots on T20Is after the Tigers suffered a group stage exit in the 2022 Asia Cup. Mushfiqur's retirement means that he will not be seen playing for Bangladesh in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

His next international assignment comes in November as India tours Bangladesh for two Tests and three ODIs.
