Asia Cup 2022: Top 5 India vs Pakistan cricket controversies

We have seen a lot of absurd India vs Pakistan confrontations throughout the years. Players have lost their composure during the rivalry leading to some verbal altercations and even more. Let's take a look at the top 5 cricket controversies between the two teams before the most anticipated matchup of the century, "India vs. Pakistan," on August 28.

5) Gautam Gambhir vs Shahid Afridi

2007's India vs. Pakistan ODI at Kanpur had Shahid Afridi bowling to Gautam Gambhir and taking potshots at him. Afridi became agitated during this match when Gambhir hit a four on his delivery, and he began speaking after turning to face Gambhir.

Following this, Gambhir ran into Afridi while taking a run on the subsequent delivery, and Gambhir elbowed Afridi. Gambhir thought Afridi had purposefully stepped in front of him when they collided. Later, the umpires had to separate these two players who were furiously approaching one another.

4) Javed Miandad vs Kiran More

India and Pakistan are embroiled in yet another hilariously significant cricket controversy. When Javed Miandad was playing cricket for India in 1992, Indian wicketkeeper Kiran More constantly irritated him by being overly charming.

Miandad complained about it to the umpire, but More persisted. In one of Sachin Tendulkar's overs, after Miandad stopped More from running him out, the Pakistani batsman attempted to make fun of the Indian wicketkeeper by hilariously bouncing up and down.

One of the most famous incidents in the India-Pakistan World Cup rivalry is still Miandad's celebration to ridicule More.

3) Inzamam-ul-Haq vs Suresh Raina

Inzamam-ul-Haq, a former captain of Pakistan, obstructed the field in 2006 after experiencing a mental breakdown. He was the third batter to be removed for interfering with play.

Inzamam-ul-Haq drove a delivery from S Sreesanth when he needed 40 runs off 41 balls, and Indian fielder Suresh Raina did brilliantly to stop it.

Then he returned fire at the stumps. However, Inzamam used his bat to block the ball. Inzamam was ruled out for blocking the field by Simon Taufel after speaking with fellow umpire Asad Rauf. Inzimam was enraged and agitated after this event.

2) Venkatesh Prasad vs Aamir Sohail

Aamir Sohail was in excellent form back in the 1996 World Cup. Apart from the form, there was one more thing that made the World Cup memorable for Aamir Sohail. In 14.5 overs playing against India, Pakistan scored 113 runs at a loss of 1 wicket.

Sohail had earlier hit Prasad for a boundary on the off side, but the over did not finish there. He motioned to the boundary rope and Prasad, warning him that he would hit him there once again.

An incensed Prasad made the decision to let the ball speak for itself and responded by uprooting his stumps on the following ball. Then he showed Aamir Sohail the way to the changing room with an aggressive gesture.

1) Gautam Gambhir vs Kamran Akmal

Gautam Gambhir was known for losing his composure while playing, which is why he was often involved in cricket disputes. Back in the 2010 Asia Cup, while Gautam Gambhir was batting, Pakistani wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal made an unjustified appeal.

That didn't sit well with the Indian batter because at the drink break, he had a conversation with Kamran that resulted in a furious exchange of words before the then-Indian captain MS Dhoni took Gautam away from the argument. The two had to be separated by umpires and MS Dhoni.
