On Thursday, August 7, Croatia locked horns against Cyprus for a four-match T20I series. With the first T20i, Croatia's Zach Vukusic led the side and entered the history books. Notably, the 17-year-old became the youngest-ever player in the history of international cricket.

Zack, at the age of 17 years and 311 days, shattered the three-year-old record of France's Noman Amjad, who captained his nation at the age of 18 years and 24 days against the Czech Republic in July 2022.

Who Is Zach Vukusic?

The 17-year-old has featured for Croatia in seven matches and amassed 205 runs, including a highest score of 53 runs. He made his international debut in July 2024 against Switzerland. 

Vukusic couldn't do much with the bat and scored just 14 (19), which featured a solitary four. 

How Did Vukusic Do On His Debut Series As Captain?

Talking about the ongoing series against Cyprus, Vukusic has amassed just 75 runs in three innings, averaging 25. However, his debut as captain hasn't fared well, as he has suffered defeats in the first three matches. 

Cyprus won the first match by a whopping 58 runs, while Cyprus won by seven wickets and three wickets.
