IPL 2022: Dwayne Bravo equals Lasith Malinga's record of most wickets in history of league

The league to paint new records and script their names in the record book has begun. But unfortunately, under the new leadership, CSK suffered a defeat in the lung-opener. However, all-rounder Dwayne Bravo added another feather to his prestigious cap at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Defending a low-key total of 131 runs, DJ Bravo was the pick of the bowlers for CSK as he bowled a top-notch spell.

Veteran pacer Bravo managed to equal Lasith Malinga's monumental record in the tournament and is just one more wicket away from becoming the highest wicket-taker in the IPL history.

The World Cup-winning all-rounder managed to scalp three wickets against a new-look Kolkata Knight Riders, lead by skipper Shreyas Iyer. In this process, he equalled former Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer Lasith Malinga's tally of 170 wickets in the IPL.

Therefore, Bravo, along with former Sri Lankan pacer Malinga, is now the joint-highest wicket-taker in the history of the cash-rich tournament. He achieved this landmark on his 151st IPL game. Notably, Malinga had finished his career for Mumbai Indians after taking 170 wickets from 122 games. Lasith Malinga is currently the fast-bowling coach of the Rajasthan Royals.

Meanwhile, former Delhi Capitals' spinner Amit Mishra, who is not part of the ongoing 15th edition of the league, has 166 wickets from 154 games in the IPL bouquet. Piyush Chawla is the fourth-highest wicket-taker with 157 scalps to his name.

KKR will face Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday in the upcoming fixtures, while CSK will square off against Lucknow Super Giants on Thursday.
