The Sikandar Raza-led Joburg Bangla Tigers lifted the Zim Afro T10 2024 title by defeating the Cape Town Samp Army in a high-octane final at the Harare Sports Club. Here’s the timeline of how JBT vs CTSA panned out in Harare:

JBT vs CTSA Highlights: Kusal Perera Clubs Four Sixes In Fiery Top-Order Cameo

Joburg Bangla Tigers opener Kusal Perera clobbered four sixes in his 11-ball 33-run cameo during his 59-run partnership with Mohammad Shahzad. While Perera was trapped in front by Qais Ahmed in the fourth over of the innings, unbeaten Shahzad took on the role of an aggressor by forming another 38 runs with number three Hazratullah Zazai (19 off 11).

JBT vs CTSA Highlights: Mohammad Shahzad’s 44 Pushes Tigers To 129

Mohammad Shahzad top-scored in the innings with 44 swift runs from just 25 balls. The belligerent Afghanistan-based opener flogged four boundaries and a six in his whirlwind knock to take the Joburg Bangla Tigers past the 100-run mark in less than nine overs.

Cape Town Samp Army bowlers Amir Hamza (1-14) and Nicholson Gordon (2-10) picked up three wickets between them at the death, but the Tigers still ended up accruing 129-5 from their 10 overs.

JBT vs CTSA Highlights: Bennett, Malan Take Tigers To The Cleaners At The Top

Chasing 130 for a win, Cape Town Samp Army openers Brian Bennett and Dawid Malan leathered the Tigers attack by accumulating 83 runs off the first six overs itself. Bennett himself bashed 36 runs from just 21 balls with three boundaries and two sixes before he was castled by Adam Milne.

Captain Rohan Mustafa at number three also made his way back for a two-ball duck later in the same over as the Samp Army slipped to 83-2 in the space of just two deliveries.

JBT vs CTSA Highlights: Dawid Malan Rages On, But Army Falls Short By Five Runs

Following Adam Milne’s double strike, unbeaten Samp Army opener Dawid Malan raged on with a 62-run knock off just 28 balls with seven boundaries and three sixes. His new partner Jack Taylor also clubbed a couple of huge sixes in his nine-ball 23* during their blistering 41-run stand.

However, despite their collective efforts, the Joburg Bangla Tigers secured a five-run victory to lift the 2024 Zim Afro T10 League courtesy of a tight final over bowled by Tinashe Muchawaya.
