India's emerging talent, Yashasvi Jaiswal has been on his best behaviour with the bat ever since his arrival in Australia. He has continued his excellence and remained calm in the face of adversity in the on-going fourth Test match at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Despite losing three wickets in a heartbeat, Jaiswal's belief in himself remained strong as he slammed tenth Test fifty and a second half-century of this Boxing Day Test after a forgetful mix-up in the first innings. In the 40th over, Nathan Lyon bowled a back of a length delivery at the stumps. Yashasvi Jaiswal rocked back and whipped it away powerfully along the ground through mid-wicket for a lovely boundary.
He brought his half-century in full style and rose his bat to acknowledge the praise and applause from the Indian fans as he gave India something to believe in, with this gritty fifty 50 in 127 Balls.

With this brilliant knock, Yashasvi Jaiswal entered the record books. His remarkable achievement this year (2024) places him alongside cricketing legends Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar. With 12 Test centuries to his name, Jaiswal now joins the exclusive club, following in the footsteps of Tendulkar (2010) and Gavaskar (1979), and is only behind Virender Sehwag (13) in terms of most fifty plus scores in Tests in a calendar year for India.
