Yashasvi Jaiswal got into a heated face-off with Mitchell Starc after the bowler tried his hand at switching the bails to bring some luck to his side. However, the Indian opener foiled his tactic by reversing the switch, leading to an intense confrontation.

India appeared in deep trouble by lunch break on Day 5 of the Boxing Day Test against Australia. Chasing 340 runs, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul surrendered against Pat Cummins in the same over. To add to the misery, Virat Kohli’s off-stump demons haunted India again as he nicked an edge first slip, Usman Khwaja.

Yashasvi Jaiswal miffed with Starc's mind games

From 33/3, India resumed the innings post-lunch break. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant had a steady start in the second session. Desperate for a wicket, Mitchell Starc switched bails at the non-striker's end to bring some luck. However, Jaiswal was displeased by his tactics. As Starc marked his run-up, the Indian openers reversed his switch and placed the bails in their original position.

Following the delivery, both players exchanged some words, with Jaiswal fuming over the Australian veteran. Notably, Starc’s rivalry with Jaiswal mushroomed in the Perth Test, where the batter suggested that the pacer had lost steam. Starc replied with a first-ball wicket in the Adelaide Test, and since then, the one-on-one battle has gained traction.

Historic crowd turns up at MCG for Boxing Day Test

The competition between India and Australia has been fierce as both teams are vying for a spot in the World Test Championship final. However, the real highlight of this match has been the unprecedented crowd turnout at the MCG.

By the end of the first three days, a staggering 299,329 spectators had already graced the iconic venue. This number surged to an astonishing 350,700 by the fifth day, setting a new benchmark for the highest attendance across five days of a Test match. This incredible turnout has shattered the previous record set during the 2013 Ashes Test between Australia and England.
