Jordan Silk pulled off an absolutely outrageous catch in the on-going 15th match of the Big Bash League 2024 between Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers. With this stunning catch Jimmy Peirson was forced to depart for just 24 runs and the budding partnership between Peirson and his partner was broken, and the Sixers were right back on top.
In the 12th over, Tom Murphy bowled a flighted off-break to James Peirson, who was looking to break his shackles. Peirson stepped out of his crease and heaved the ball to the leg side, but didn’t get the middle of the bat. The ball veered off the edge and headed towards deep mid-wicket. Silk, positioned in the deep, saw the ball off the bat and instantly started charging to his left. He had a lot of ground to cover, but his speed and timing were impeccable.
As the ball dipped towards the turf, Silk, in full stride, dived forward, fully extending himself. With flawless technique, he managed to get his fingers underneath the ball just inches above the ground. The replays confirmed that it was indeed a clean catch, and Silk’s incredible athleticism earned the Sixers a crucial breakthrough.
