The 2025–26 domestic cricket season kicked off with the Duleep Trophy quarter-finals in Bengaluru, producing several standout performances. While Jammu & Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi grabbed headlines with a rare hat-trick, it was Jharkhand’s 21-year-old spinner Manishi who etched his name into the record books with an extraordinary bowling feat.

Playing for East Zone against North Zone, Manishi delivered a career-defining spell in his maiden Duleep Trophy appearance. The left-arm spinner claimed six wickets for 111 runs in the first innings, with every single dismissal coming via leg before wicket (lbw).

Manishi Equals Rare World Record In First-Class Cricket

This remarkable achievement made Manishi the first Indian bowler in history to dismiss six batters lbw in a single First-Class innings. Globally, he became only the sixth bowler ever to achieve the feat, joining the elite company of Ollie Robinson, Chaminda Vaas and Tabish Khan.

Who Is Jamshedpur's Spin Prodigy Manishi?

Born in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, Manishi has already built a reputation as a promising spinner despite playing just nine First-Class matches in three years. He impressed in the Ranji Trophy 2023–24, bagging 22 wickets at an average of 27.22, with a previous best of 4-49 before his Duleep Trophy heroics.

In the quarter-final clash, he finished as East Zone’s most successful bowler despite his side conceding over 1000 runs against a strong North Zone batting lineup.

Manishi also has international exposure, having represented India U-19 in a four-day match against South Africa U-19 in 2019. He starred in that game with seven wickets at an average of 12.57, including an impressive 5-58.

With his latest achievement, the 21-year-old has firmly positioned himself as one of the brightest young spin prospects in Indian domestic cricket, and his performances in the ongoing season will be closely monitored by selectors.
