The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) faced heavy criticism after fans were left disappointed by the absence of live telecast for the ongoing Duleep Trophy matches at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

With the domestic season kicking off through this prestigious First-Class tournament, fans expected full coverage. Instead, early clashes went unseen, despite the BCCI’s vast broadcasting resources.

In a recent development, according to reports, the final of the Duleep Trophy will be telecast live. However, the channels for telecasting or streaming services have not been officially announced.

Devajit Saikia Confirms Final Will Be Aired Live

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has now confirmed that the Duleep Trophy final, scheduled from September 11 to 15, will be broadcast live. Another report from TOI journalist Gaurav Gupta also confirmed the same report.

Saikia also clarified that the board already has an agreement with broadcasters to televise 100 days of domestic cricket annually.

“There will be a live telecast of the final of the Duleep Trophy. We have an agreement with our broadcaster to ensure live telecast of 100 days of domestic cricket, which means that all our domestic tournaments are covered live,” Saikia told The Times of India.

He further added that the BCCI places strong emphasis on domestic cricket, pointing out that several India stars regularly take part in these matches.

Early Matches Delivered Big Performances But Fans Missed Out

Several standout performances went unnoticed due to the lack of live telecast. These included Auqib Nabi’s five-wicket haul, Manishi’s six-for, and centuries by Ankit Kumar, Yash Dhull, and Ayush Badoni in the North Zone vs East Zone match.

In the Central Zone vs North East Zone quarter-final, fans also missed Danish Malewar’s double hundred and strong knocks from Rajat Patidar, Shubham Sharma, and Yash Rathod. Even Mohammed Shami’s return to competitive cricket went largely unseen after his modest bowling spell.

The Duleep Trophy semi-finals will feature West Zone’s star trio, Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Sarfaraz Khan. With the final now confirmed for live telecast, fans can expect to watch some of India’s brightest talents in action during the business end of the tournament.
