In the opening match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024, Bangladesh Women won the toss and opted to bat first against Scotland Women at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah, UAE. The tournament, originally planned to take place in Bangladesh, was moved to the UAE due to political tensions in Bangladesh. Both teams will be eager to make a strong start in this prestigious global event.

Both teams come into the tournament with similar momentum, each having won and lost one warm-up game leading up to the event. Notably, both sides registered victories over Pakistan Women in their warm-up matches, that showcased their potential to surprise in this global event.

BAN-W Vs SCO-W: Journey So Far

Led by wicketkeeper-batter Nigar Sultana, the Bangladesh Women’s team will be eager to secure their first Women's T20 World Cup win since 2014. However, Bangladesh’s persistent issue with their batting unit looms large once again. 

The team has struggled to put up substantial totals in recent matches, relying heavily on their bowlers to deliver.

Meanwhile, Scotland Women are poised to make history as they participate in their first-ever Women's T20 World Cup. After finishing as runners-up in the T20 World Cup qualifiers earlier this year, the Scots have shown they can compete on the big stage.
