In a major development ahead of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024, Scotland Women stunned Pakistan Women in the first warm-up match of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 as they defeated Fatima Sana and team by eight wickets. This defeat for Pakistan Women will serve as a wake-up call ahead of the marquee tournament set to begin on October 3.

Pakistan's Top Order Failed Without Significant Contribution

Talking about the match, Pakistan Women won the toss and decided to bat first but soon regretted their decision as they crumbled under pressure. Scotland bowlers showcased class and temperament, especially Olivia Bell, who took crucial wickets and dismantled Pakistan's top order. 

In just 6.4 overs, Pakistan found themselves in deep trouble as they were reduced to 33/4. None of Pakistan's top four could make a significant contribution. Pakistan's opener, Gull Feroza, made a mere 14 runs in 16 balls, but on the other side, Sadaf Shams failed to contribute much. 

It was left to the middle and lower order to salvage the innings. Muneeba Ali (27 off 22 balls) and Omaima Sohail (30 off 29 balls) played crucial knocks to offer some stability. 

Their partnership was vital in pushing Pakistan's score into a more respectable position. Captain Fatima Sana also played a handy roll down the order and smashed an unbeaten 20 off 14 balls to give Pakistan some hope of a competitive total. 

Sarah Bryce Crucial Knock Made Things Easier For Scotland

Scotland's chase began with a strong partnership between openers Saskia Horley and Sarah Bryce. The duo laid a solid foundation and established an impressive 73-run partnership for the first wicket. Horley's steady performance ensured that Scotland was always ahead of the required rate.

Sarah Bryce, however, was the star of the chase. She remained unbeaten until the end and anchored the innings with a composed 60 off 52 balls. Her knock, combined with support from Horley, ensured that Scotland stayed on course throughout the chase. Scotland reached the target in just 18 overs with eight wickets to spare.

This victory will serve as a huge morale boost for Scotland heading into the Women's T20 World Cup. Their all-round performance clearly demonstrated that they can compete against higher-ranked teams.
