In a significant development, Mumbai all-rounder Shardul Thakur has been discharged from the hospital after being admitted due to a viral infection that developed during the ongoing Irani Cup match against Rest of India (ROI) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. 

He was rushed to the Medanta Hospital on Wednesday after his condition worsened following his valiant effort with the bat on Day 2 of the match.

Shardul Thakur's Significant Contribution With The Bat

Shardul Thakur played a crucial role in extending Mumbai's first-innings total to 537/10 despite battling illness throughout his innings. Initially placed lower in the batting order to manage his health, he was called into action late on Day 2 after Mohit Avasthi's dismissal. 

Despite his condition, Thakur batted for nearly two hours alongside Sarfaraz Khan, and contributed a valuable 36 runs off 59 deliveries. However, his health deteriorated during the innings, and he was taken to the hospital once the day's play concluded.

Shardul Thakur Discharge From The Hospital After Recovery

In the recent report from The Hindu, Mumbai team manager Bhushan Patil confirmed that Shardul Thakur had been discharged from the hospital early on Thursday. 

The reports also mentioned that Doctors conducted a series of tests, and no major ailments were found in the blood samples collected. 

However, he had been observed overnight due to a high fever, which had aggravated from mild symptoms. His viral infection was initially mild when Mumbai began their innings, but his condition worsened after he spent considerable time at the crease

The report further stated that Shardul is expected to join the team's dressing room by the end of Day 3's play, although it is uncertain whether he will take the field immediately. His participation in the remainder of the match remains subject to medical advice, as the team management closely monitors his recovery.
