Day 2 of the ongoing first Test between West Indies and India was a momentous one for various reasons. Apart from Yashasvi Jaiswal's maiden hundred on Test debut, former skipper Virat Kohli scaled another landmark in red-ball cricket.

Kohli, who remained unbeaten on 36 at the end of the play with India on 312 for 2, is now the fifth-highest Test run-getter for India with 8,515 runs, edging past former opener Virender Sehwag's tally of 8,503 runs.

Kohli in 110 Tests, has scored 8,515 runs at an average of 48.93 with 28 centuries and as many fifties.

Leading the charts is Sachin Tendulkar with 15,921 runs in 200 Tests with 51 tons. Second and third place is occupied by Rahul Dravid and Sunil Gavaskar, who have amassed 13,265 and 10,122 runs, respectively.

Just above Kohli is VVS Laxman, who scored 8,781 runs in 134 Tests.

The 34-year-old looks well-set and could possibly eye his 29th Test ton on Day 3, which will also be Kohli's first ton away from home since December 2018.
