India resumed the third session of Day 2 in the first Test at 245 for two. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli resumed the proceedings at individual scores of 116 and 4 respectively.

Slow and Steady Progress for India

After a rather quick run-scoring second session India resorted back to the slow and steady approach. In a session where 32 overs were bowled, India managed to score just 67 runs without the loss of a single wicket.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is looking all set for a big score on his debut Test match. He is unbeaten at 143 and interestingly if he goes on to score the double hundred, he will be the first India to do so in a debut Test.

Jaiswal looked rather untroubled in the last session except for a huge LBW appeal of Kemar Roach in the 103rd over. Notably, West Indies had lost all their DRS by then and that cost them a wicket in this case as it looked 'plumb in front' in the replays.

On the other end, Virat Kohli took his time to settle down and adjust himself to the playing conditions. He looked scratchy at the beginning and hence gave respect to the rather docile West Indian bowling.

However, as time went by his feet started moving better and the trademark rotation of strike was noticed. Kohli is currently unbeaten at 36 and will be looking to translate this into an overseas hundred after five years.

The duo has ensured that India came out unscathed from the quick couple of wickets they lost towards the end of the post-lunch session. The prime target for the Men in Blue tomorrow will be to bat long and take the game out of the West Indian grasp. They will try and bat only once in this match.
