One of India's most promising young talents, Yashasvi Jaiswal became the 17th Indian Test player to slam a hundred on debut, achieving this landmark against West Indies in the ongoing first Test at Dominica.

Jaiswal, who opened the batting for India alongside skipper Rohit Sharma, remained unbeaten on 143* at stumps on Day 2, with the visitors leading by 162 runs, placed on 312 for 2, with former captain Virat Kohli accompanying him in the middle.

The Mumbai batter opened up about his knock and thanked the management, and captain Sharma for displaying faith and backing him ahead of other domestic stalwarts.

As quoted by MyKhel, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener said that this is an emotional knock.

Here's what Jaiswal said

"I think this is one of the emotional knock for me, it's difficult to get opportunities in the Indian team, I would like to thank everyone, the supporters, team management and Rohit Bhai,"

Jaiswal, who batted out 350 balls, further said he wants to enjoy batting and play for India.

"The pitch is on the slower side and the outfield is very slow, it was difficult and challenging, it was pretty hot and I wanted to keep doing it for my country, just play ball-by-ball and enjoy my cricket"

India will look to push for runs on Day 3 with Kohli and Jaiswal well-set and ensure that they don't have to bat again with the track getting slower.
