On Sunday, West Indies completed a remarkable victory to outclass England in a high-octane run chase. West Indian captain Shai Hope emerged as one of the main architects of West Indies' triumphant run chase. The West Indian skipper smashed an unbeaten 109 (83) involving 4 fours and 7 sixes to steer his side home by 4 wickets and 7 balls to spare.

The 30-year-old timed his innings to perfection and stitched some vital partnerships with Keacy Carty, Shimron Hetmyer, and Romario Shepherd along the way to help West Indies chase a gigantic total of 326. In the end, he finished it off in style by smashing Sam Curran for three sixes in the penultimate over to seal the deal for the Men in Maroon.

Following his emphatic century, Hope achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the joint-fastest West Indies player to reach the milestone of 5000 ODI runs.

In addition to this, he also secured the position of the third-fastest player overall to achieve this milestone. Hope now shares this achievement with the legendary Viv Richards and the talented Indian batter, Virat Kohli, as they all reached this milestone in 114 innings.

However, Hope still trails behind the exceptional Pakistan batter Babar Azam, who achieved this feat in just 97 innings, and the former South African cricketer Hashim Amla, who accomplished it in 101 innings.

With 1-0 up in the series, the West Indies cricket team will stay at North Sound, Antigua to play their second ODI match against England on December 6th. With a renewed sense of upliftment, the Windies will head into the upcoming fixture with a lot of confidence.
