Virat Kohli on Thursday created history for India becoming the fourth player to play 500 international matches for the nation, during his outing in the second ongoing Test against West Indies in Port of Spain.

Kohli, who came into bat at No.4, scored a solid 87* and remained unbeaten at stumps on Day 1 with India comfortably positioned on 288 for 4, alongside Ravindra Jadeja, who is batting on 36*.

However, the former India captain broke another record during his milestone match going past former South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis' tally of 25,534 international runs to become the fifth-highest run-getter in international cricket.

Kohli needed 74 runs to surpass Kallis and achieved the feat in the final session. Kohli is now behind Sachin Tendulkar, Kumar Sangakkara, Ricky Ponting, and Mahela Jayawardene.

Kohli will be eager to slam his 76th international and 29th Test century when play resumes on Day 2.
