New Zealand will go up against Afghanistan in the Group C match of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on June 8, 2024.

The opening match of the tournament for New Zealand is set to happen after a long build-up. New Zealand will aim for a victory in their first match of the ongoing T20 World Cup and start their journey to the marquee tournament on a winning note.

On the other hand, Afghanistan, under the leadership of Rashid Khan, had a commendable start to their T20 World Cup Campaign as they defeated Uganda in their first match by a massive margin of 125 runs.

Afghanistan posted a solid total of 183 in that game with a significant contribution from Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s 76 of just 45 balls. Afghanistan’s bowling lineup looked promising as they bowled out Uganda for 58.

So ahead, of this highly-anticipated match between NZ Vs AFG, let's take a look at how the pitch is expected to behave at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.

Providence Stadium Guyana Pitch Report

The surface at the Providence Stadium is expected to be a difficult surface for the batters with it being slow and two-paced. There is enough swing available with the new ball and the pitch, which is expected to provide variable bounce and pace, will suit the bowlers.

Usually, it will get tough for batters to time the ball and hit through the line as the ball might hold up on the surface. Spinners are likely to receive enough help all day long.

The pitch has favoured the spinners and assisted the pacers in the early stages of the game. This trend is expected to continue in the upcoming match between NZ Vs AFG  on June 8.
