Explosive English batter Liam Livingstone took field for his country at Guyana’s Providence Stadium in the second semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2024 against India on June 27. Interestingly, the 30-year-old batting all-rounder did so by wearing a black armband.

Liam Livingstone, who is yet to make his presence felt with the bat this tournament, wore the black armband in respect of the passing of his grandfather.

Livingstone was spotted wearing a black armband when he took field against India at the Providence Stadium in the second semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2024. As per reports, the cricketer did so in respect of the passing of his grandfather.

So far in the ongoing tournament, Livingstone has managed to gather just 61 runs in three innings at an average of 20.33. Exercising his right-arm spin trade, the 30-year-old additionally managed to claim just three wickets in his three bowling appearances combined.

Despite his silent run off late with both bat and ball, defending champions England managed to qualify for the semifinal courtesies of their splendid wins over associate nations Oman, Namibia and USA as well as over tournament co-hosts West Indies in the Super Eights.

Prior to the 2024 T20 World Cup, Liam Livingstone starred in England’s 2-0 series win over Pakistan at home and he plied his trade for the Punjab Kings franchise in last month’s Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.

Meanwhile, the semifinal clash between England and India continues to suffer from constant rain interruptions at Guyana. At the time of publishing, Team India reached 65-2 from eight overs with captain Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav settling in at the crease.
