In the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 semifinal at the Providence Stadium, Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant fell short of delivering a significant score against England on June 27.

After winning the toss, England chose to bowl first and quickly made inroads into the Indian batting lineup. Reece Topley struck early, dismissing the key player Virat Kohli cheaply.

Pant came in to replace Kohli, hoping to stabilize the innings and build momentum. However, his stay at the crease was brief.

In the sixth over, Sam Curran's fiery delivery ended Pant's innings. It was Curran's first over, and he removed Pant on his very first ball.

The delivery was a fuller one aimed at the stumps, and Pant, attempting a whip shot over mid-wicket, misjudged the ball.

Closing the face of his bat too early, he failed to get the necessary elevation and ended up hitting it straight into the hands of Jonny Bairstow at mid-wicket. Pant managed to score only 4 runs off 6 balls.

At the time of writing, India stands at 56 for 2 in 8 overs, with Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav at the crease, striving to build a competitive total.
