On Tuesday, May 20, Rajasthan Royals became the first team to end their IPL 2025 campaign as the Sanju Samson-led beat Chennai Super Kings by six wickets to end the season with 10 points in 14 matches.
Notably, RR had a disastrous season as the Men in Pink managed to win just four matches in the entire tournament. Captain Samson and head coach Rahul Dravid admitted to having a failed campaign and remarked that the team has already started working on the next season and a lot of changes are expected within the squad.
The fans criticised the RR management post IPL 2025 mega-auction as they weren't happy with releasing Jos Buttler, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Trent Boult. The auction strategy didn't quite worked in the ongoing season. Nonetheless, a few players did well for the inaugural winners and made a name for themselves in IPL 2025. Thus, this article will look at three players who were bought during IPL mega-auction that RR should retain despite a bad season.
1.Vaibhav Suryavanshi
One player that stood out in the season for Rajasthan Royals was Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The 14-year-old, who was bought for 1.1 crore at the mega-auction, was not a part of the playing XI in the initial phase of the tournament. However, Sanju Samson's injury vacated a place at the top and Suryavanshi grabbed onto that opportunity.
The southpaw took on the bowlers double his age and smashed the fastest century by an Indian in the history of the league when he faced GT. Further, with a hundred and a fifty-plus score to his name, he has 252 runs in seven innings, averaging 36. Thus, Suryavanshi's retention is a no-brainer for RR as he is a product for the future.

2.Jofra Archer
How lethal Archer can be needs no reminder and the English seamer performed as per the expectations. The experienced star was roped in by RR during mega-auction for a whopping 12.50 crores, but he got off to the worst start as he leaked the most runs in the history of IPL by an RR bowler vs SRH.
However, the right-arm seamer returned to form and how. The 30-Year-old has 11 wickets in 12 innings this season and registered an economy of less than 10. Lets look at his detailed stats for the season.

3. Akash Madhwal
Another great option for RR is to retain Akash Madhwal and bring the best out of him. The right-arm seamer showed his potential as a bowler during his stint with MI, where he led the bowling attack in Jasprit Bumrah's absence. However, RR were late in bringing Madhwal to the playing XI and a lot of damage was done by then.
Nonetheless, Akash, who was bought for 1.2 crores, has played four games in this season and taken four wickets, including a three-wicket haul against Chennai Super Kings.
