Ishan Kishan has been rested from India’s playing XI for the third ODI of their three-match series against Australia. According to a statement issued by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the wicketkeeper-batsman was unavailable for selection owing to an illness.

KL Rahul, who led the Indian team in the first two matches of the series, will be keeping wickets in Kishan’s place. Meanwhile, the team for the dead-rubber features the returns of senior pros Virat Kohli and regular captain Rohit Sharma.

BCCI provides Ishan Kishan health update

Mere minutes before the launch of India’s third ODI against Australia, the BCCI announced that Ishan Kishan would not be available for selection due to his illness.

It is worth noting that the youngster has been playing non-stop international cricket since July, ever since Team India took a voyage for an all-format tour to the West Indies. Kishan also featured in India’s victorious Asia Cup 2023 run in Sri Lanka and played the subsequent two ODIs at home against Australia to conclude his pre-World Cup 2023 assignments.

The 25-year-old is now slated to turn up at the 2023 World Cup in less than two weeks, with a match against Australia on October 8.

Team India already sealed their series against Australia with convincing wins in Mohali and Indore. Kishan scored a rapid 31 in the second game to turbo-charge the Indian innings towards a colossal 399-5.
