Team India and England shared the opening day honors at Ranchi’s JSCA International Complex Stadium in the fourth Test of their five-match series. While players from both camps entertained fans and television viewers with dazzling displays throughout the day, renowned commentator Ravi Shastri also livened up the proceedings during the final session before stumps.

Former Indian cricketer and active commentator Ravi Shastri livened up the proceedings during the final session of Day 1 at the expense of a “yawning” ball boy near the boundary rope.

When England reached 231-6 during the final session of the day, the ball boy in question was spotted taking a rest behind the boundary rope. When the seemingly-sleepy youngster took a yawn, the commentator jokingly urged him to wake up because the match was “getting interesting.”

Ravi Shastri, commentating at the time, said:“Ohhh the big yawn, wake up! Have a glass of water, the cricket is getting interesting. Wake up, ball boy!”

On the cricketing front, England concluded Day 1 at 302-7. Seasoned veteran Joe Root reached his 31st Test match century and formed a day-defining 113-run rescue-act with wicketkeeper-batsman Ben Foakes (47).

India’s new-ball pace debutant Akash Deep struck thrice within the opening hour of play before spin twins Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja seized a wicket each. Mohammed Siraj also claimed a couple of wickets late in the day to give India some impetus following Root’s fightback.
