You don’t often see Virat Kohli making silly mistakes on the field. However, the unthinkable happened on Saturday evening during Match 19 of the IPL 2024 in Jaipur, and it was Mayank Dagar with whom he was involved in a comedy of errors.

The incident happened when Faf du Plessis, after coming to defend 183, introduced Himanshu Sharma during the eighth over Rajasthan’s innings. He bowled a leg break at short length outside the off stump, which Sanju Samson pulled through deep mid-wicket in an attempt for an easy two runs.

However, neither centurion Kohli nor Dagar, who were placed at mid-wicket and long-on respectively, did not dive, and ended up looking at each other instead. As a result, Samson got a lucky boundary, and at the same time, we saw something which we won’t see so frequently.

Earlier in the game, Kohli smashed his eighth IPL century -- his first of the season -- to take RCB to 183/3. However, it does not seem enough at this moment, as RR, at the time of writing this, have posted 95/1 after 10 overs. The required rate is well under nine runs an over.
