Virat Kohli put on a show on Saturday in Jaipur after Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and asked RCB to bat first. The talismanic Indian batter played some scintillating shots against two of RR’s new ball bowlers – Trent Boult and Nandre Burger – and boy, the way he sent the South African left-arm quick into the stands left everyone in awe.

It was Match 19 of the IPL 2024, in which Samson & Co. wore a special ‘Pink Promise’ jersey in front of his home crowd. Kohli, however, showed no mercy, smashing two fours off Burger in his first over before going big against him in the following over.

Burger bowled a short-length delivery towards the body of Kohli, who picked it up magnificently and used its pace to play an awesome-looking pull shot. The ball sailed over deep backward square leg for a maximum, which was also the first six of the night.

At the time of writing this, RCB are on a roll, scoring 53/0 after 6 overs, with Kohli and Faf du Plessis going strong, on 32* and 14* respectively. They have got the start they were looking for, now only time will tell if they get the fitting finish.
