Promising batter Yashasvi Jaiswal showcased his remarkable temperament, slamming a valiant fifty to bail India out of trouble in their ongoing first Test match against Bangladesh at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Opening the batting, Jaiswal held the fort despite losing partners at the other end. He eventually brought up a fighting fifty, headlining India's comeback in the high-octane clash.

After Bangladesh captain Najmul Shanto won the toss and invited India to bat first, the hosts had a disastrous start to the day, losing skipper Rohit Sharma for six runs. Young batter Shubman Gill, who recently had a torrid run in the Duleep Trophy, also perished cheaply, being Hasan Mahmud's second victim for a duck.

Legendary batter Virat Kohli was expected to script India's fightback, but Mahmud wreaked havoc in the hosts' camp by getting his prized scalp in the tenth over. However, Jaiswal was unfazed by these quick wickets, as he kept frustrating the visitors with his stoic technique.

The southpaw respected good deliveries and took his chances to convert the poor balls into boundaries. Renowned for his flamboyant stroke play, Jaiswal played the anchor's role to perfection, helping India recover from the early jitters on a challenging surface.

He finally completed his half-century during the 35th over by taking a single off Mehidy Hasan Miraz's bowling. Soon after reaching the milestone, Jaiswal received accolades from his teammates, including the legendary duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Jaiswal, Rahul Bring India's Innings Back On Track

After Kohli's departure, Jaiswal stitched a valuable 62-run stand with Rishabh Pant before Mahmud made the latter his fourth victim. Gritty batter KL Rahul joined Jaiswal in the middle following Pant's departure. The duo has added 40 runs for the fifth wicket, taking India to 136 for four as of writing.
