Dinesh Karthik seems to have a favorite between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma when it comes to batting at a certain juncture of an ODI. Currently serving as an expert commentator for the ongoing 2023 World Cup, the wicketkeeper-batsman recently sat down and answered a series of questions posed by numerous cricket fans on social media.

Karthik even gave his honest takes on India’s squad composition for the 2023 World Cup, and made a bold claim about certain participating teams in the tournament.

Cricketer-cum-commentator Dinesh Karthik recently answered a series of fan questions, as part of his 2023 World Cup expert analyst stint with Cricbuzz. When asked if Team India would field Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah in the same match at some point in the tournament, Karthik claimed that the team management would eventually decide between Ravichandran Ashwin and Shardul Thakur in order to get an additional batting option in the middle order.

From entertainment perspective, the 38-year-old was also asked to give his choice between Indian batting legends Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Having shared a good camaraderie with both of them, Karthik had a unique answer to signify his favorite. He said:

“When team is batting first, I love Rohit Sharma. For batting second, master chaser King Virat Kohli.”

Another fan asked Karthik to predict World Cup 2023 standings between the teams Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Netherlands by the end of the competition. Surprisingly, the former cricketer thinks Sri Lanka will finish the tournament at the bottom of the points table owing to their recent struggles with injuries.

Considering Afghanistan and Netherlands’ sudden rise in the past few games, Karthik claimed that both teams will eventually finish higher than Sri Lanka while Bangladesh will lead the World Cup 2023 race among the four sides.

Under Rohit Sharma, Team India romped to three successive wins in their 2023 World Cup crusade upfront and are currently sitting at the top of the points table. While captain Sharma orchestrated majestic run-chase wins over Afghanistan and Pakistan, veteran Kohli punched out a high-octane 85 against Australia in their tournament opener.
